Individual Therapy

As a therapist and a person, I believe that most everything important is built on relationship—to ourselves and with others.

In individual therapy, we’ll work to build a relationship of safety that allows for exploration of every part of your life.

Individual therapy may be right for you if:

  • You are interested in exploring your early life and relationships, and want to learn more about how these experiences impact what you bring to current relationships

  • You tend to be particularly hard on yourself and want to address and shift your inner critic

  • You find yourself experiencing the pull of depression or the chaos of anxiety

  • You need space that’s just for you, where you don’t have to care for or protect others

  • You are experiencing major life transitions including:

    • Changes in your job

    • Shifts in your sexuality and/or identity

    • Experiencing loss and moving through grief

    • You find yourself at the beginning or ending of a relationship, having doubts about your relationship, or desire to connect to others in more meaningful and deeper ways

    • Are in the midst of family conflict

There is healing in having our most vulnerable places witnessed, held, and accepted by another person.

In individual therapy we’ll dive into your history and what it was like to grow up in your family. We’ll identify patterns of communication that developed and look at beliefs about yourself and others that shape how you function, see yourself, and interact in relationships. We will explore how you cope in times of difficulty and places of struggle and work to shift those strategies into ones that serve you.

A specialty of my practice is working with queer experience and identity. Growing up and moving through the world as queer and gender expansive is unique and sacred. It is an experience that shapes us differently and deserves distinctive space to be held.  

In therapy there is much to be done and undone. I will guide you in holding yourself in gentleness and compassion through the process of self-knowledge, acceptance, and celebration.
